	Climate change is already negatively impacting human lives. According to the Global Humanitarian Forum Climate Change is responsible for the loss of over 300,000 lives and producing economic losses of US$125 billion every year. Over 325 million people are seriously affected annually.

Tofiga o Pili A`au - Community Based Climate Change Adaptation in Samoa

Resource-depending communities in developing countries will be and are most severely affected by climate change impacts, yet are least equipped to cope and adapt.  The Community-Based Adaptation (CBA) Programme is designed to implement community-based projects that seek to enhance the resiliency of communities and/or the ecosystems on which they rely on for their livelihoods to climate change impacts, creating small-scale project/policy laboratories and generate experience on adaptation at the local level.  By encouraging community and country ownership of CBA projects, CBA cultivates sustainable approaches and long-term support for its efforts.
